With an area of 7629 square kilometres, it hosts most of the spectacular and challenging trekking trials of the world. Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) is the largest conservation area in Nepal. Approximately 100,000 population lives in this area with ethnic groups of Gurung, Magar, Bhotia, Thakali and manangis. Their economy is greatly influenced by Tourism, agriculture, animal husbandry, trade and service in the army. The climatic condition of this place is tropical to alpine. The highest elevated point in this area is Annapurna I (8091 meters). The highest pass of the world, Thorang La pass (5416 meters) and Tilicho lake, biggest Lake situated in the highest altitude of the world (4919 meters) lies in this Conservation area. There are about 1233 species of plants, 102 species of mammals, 488 species of birds, 40 species of reptiles and 23 species of amphibians.
